Once Upon a Plate

Plating is how one presents his/her food in order to impress others. This includes the actual food, the angle of the picture, the lighting, and much more. This was our first experience with truly "decorating" our food. Our "Once Upon a Plate" consists of and orange roll, lime, orange slices, chocolate chips, powdered sugar, brown sugar, and orange icing. First, we used a grater to lightly scatter brown sugar across the plate as a simple way to add color to the plate. Next, we placed the orange roll off-centered to create a more appealing platter. Then, we carefully sliced a almost-golden orange. We placed one slice on the edge to help expose the tangy flavor scattered throughout the plate. Across from the orange slice, we placed two slices of fresh lime. Together, the odd number of fruit helps balance the plate. Next, we delicately drizzled orange icing in order to add flavor. We then added an odd amount of chocolate chips to better compliment the lighter colors. Lastly, we sprinkled a pinch of powdered sugar to also lighten the darkness of the orange roll. I hope you enjoy scrumptious dessert platter.
