Once Upon a Plate

As our second attempt at professional plating, I believe we achieved our goal. Between our two plates of simple food we made each look elegant using our newfound plating skills.

During class we learned the fundamentals of excellent plating.
-- When using small items, plate in opposite numbers: Plating in uneven numbers is appealing to the eye, making food look more appetizing.
-- When plating on white plates, use other foods of other colors: White plates are very elegant looking, however, you need contrasting colors so that the food does not get lost.
-- Be sure to use the correct size plate/bowl for your food: If you have a small amount of food you need a small plate. With both food items we used small plates to make sure the plate does not look as if it swallows the food.
